Hey, sorry it may be written somewhere but, what do you actually get in that edition that isn't in the quickstart? Like the quickstart being 36 pages, is the base game 100 pages, 50 or 200? Looks hella cool, playing it for the first time with friends next week every night :)

Hi there, thanks for checking out Blister Critters! The free Quickstart does tease most of the concepts in the game, but the full Rulebook is three times as long, with all of the options for animals, all of the Blister Paths in full (for leveling up and gaining fun weird mutations), a whole chapter full of Stuff (usable items, each with very simple mechanics—there are hundreds), a chapter on Producing (GMing—include rules for Beasts and Bliffs), and two different pilot episodes.

So it's really a question of what you're looking for: if you want to use the free Quickstart to make up your own stories, that can be fun. But I personally like the full Rulebook because it offers a lot more options and thoughtstarters—and, of course, rad art by Tony Grasso. I'm biased, though, and I hope you have fun either way.

Oooooh, loving the art! I'll have to remember to grab this when I got the monies!

Ya know what, I couldn't resist and can totally spare $20. Congrats on making a cool game, when I play it (or if, we know how scheduling goes) I'll be sure to leave an updated review!

New question: what is Justasnake? Is that like, generic snake? Or a glass lizard kinda critter?

Just a generic snake! We looked at hundreds and hundreds of animals and realized, we can't fit them all in the Rulebook! So the Rulebook features many options, and later supplements will feature many more.

Hopefully it's clear how to build your own animals (each gets two powers and sits in one of six categories based on the type of body plan they have).

Please feel free to let us know what animals you'd like to see in future Blister Critters supplements—and thanks so much for supporting the game!

That makes sense,  I just wasn’t sure if it was a toony “this is totally a snake not a lizard ha trust me :)” critter or something like you said. But otherwise yea, with the custom perk suggestions it does seem easy enough to make or modify your own!

Future animals…I know it’s easy enough to make our owN, but would be interesting to see official stuff for aquatic creatures like fish, rules for playing Bliffs (like golems, robots, etc), rules ideas for bigger critters if you miniaturize them (like horses, hippos, giraffes, etc), or even fantastical critters (chupacabra, kobold, etc).

Love these ideas! I think we aren't doing fantastical Critters ourselves, although we encourage the community to use the game however they want. I know we have more aquatic and mini-big-animal Critters. And playing as Bliffs… I can't say much more than—stay tuned! More rules are currently in development. If you want to playtest some, check out our Discord server.
